I wonder about these gentle Hausa people

They're everywhere - selling you cigarettes and Tom tom, riding bikes and fetching you water - yet, somehow I find people condescending to them without even thinking about it. What's the difference between you, me and the 'aboki'? Are we not all trying, as best as we can, to navigate this gentle journey from cradle to grave? Hm.
